Paul & Huw Watkins

Paul and Huw Watkins will play music by Beethoven, Prokofiev, Schumann and Huw Watkins. Paul, one of Britain’s foremost cellists, is a former BBC Young Musician of the Year (1988), principal cellist of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and member of the Nash Ensemble since 1997. His brother Huw, a composer and pianist, appears as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the UK.

18th Century Concert Orchestra (Sold Out)

The 18th Century Concert Orchestra (2 violins, viola, cello, oboe, trumpet, harpsichord and candle-master) specialise in popular baroque music in costume and on period instruments by candlelight, and have established themselves as one of the finest exponents of this type of music in the country. Their programme will include Purcell, Charpentier, Corelli, Bach and Handel.

Laura Lucas

Laura Lucas (flute) was a finalist in the woodwind section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year (2002) and is the 2008 Gold medal winner at the Royal Over-seas League. Her accompanist, Dominic John (piano), won the Chappell Gold Medal of the Royal College of Music and, in 2004, the British Music Society Award for piano. They will play music by Poulenc, Franck, Schubert, Burton and Richard Rodney Bennett.

Emma Johnson MBE (Sold Out)

Since winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1984, Emma has established herself as one of the few clarinettists with an international career as a soloist. Her two recent discs “Voyage” and “The Mozart Album” spent many weeks at the top of the Classical Charts here in the UK. She is accompanied by John Lenehan who has collaborated with many of today’s leading instrumentalists and is recognised as one of the outstanding accompanists and chamber musicians of today. They will play music by Debussy, Brahms, Shchedrin, Bliss, Elgar and Bernstein.

The Sitkovetsky Piano Trio

The Sitkovetsky Piano Trio - Wu Qian (piano) - The Independent’s Rising Star for 2007, Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin) - soloist with the Royal Philharmonic and BBC Concert Orchestras and Leonard Elschenbroich (cello)  – award winner from the Kronberg Academy, the EBU-Union and the Verbier Festival. The Trio is supported by the Tillett Trust for this performance, and will play Haydn, Shostokovich and Tchaikovsky.
