Laura is 25 and has recently gained a BMus with First Class Honours from the Royal College of Music in London where she held a scholarship funded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She plans to continue her studies there, supported generously by the ABRSM and The Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Laura was a student at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester, from 1997 – 2004, where she studied flute with Rachel Holt and was a member of The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, where she held principal flute for two years.
She was the youngest winner of the Shell/LSO Scholarship in 2001, performing a concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, London. In 2002 she performed a flute concerto with the London Charity Orchestra at St. John’s Smith Square followed by a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3. In 2002 she reached the National Woodwind Finals of the BBC Young Musician, and she performed the Ibert flute concerto with the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra in May 2004.
